We are a private sector Indian Shipyard on River Hoogly ( Ganges) at Kolkata, engaged in designing and construction of various types of seagoing, coastal, riverine, inland and harbour crafts. Twenty years back we started with construction of pontoons, gangways and barges. Since then we have upgraded our products to various propelled vessels like passenger ferries, vehicle ferries, survey vessels, pilot launches, patrol crafts, tugs, coastal research vessels, dredgers etc . We are now building naval vessels in parts, fast patrol launches and tourist cruise vessels, all reasonably sophisticated crafts.
As our name identifies, in the beginning we also did ship and marine structures related consultancy work. Through the years the demands of practical shipbuilding squeezed out time for such essentially desktop work. However, we still have to cater to goodwill demands from long time clients. Marine consultancy is a decreasing fraction of our total activity.
A decade back we were constructing and delivering not more than 50 Tons (average) of crafts and vessels per year. In Financial year 2004-2005, tonnage of our total construction and deliveries approached 750 Tons. In next financial year, 2005-2006 we are geared up to produce
3000 Tons.
Shipbuilding is an industry prone to cyclic ups and downs. To ensure sustenance and growth during lean shipbuilding years, a decade ago we diversified into other shipping related activities like ship repairing and ship operations. With a shipyard of our own we provide a number of useful and convenient supporting activities, to the obvious advantage of our clients. Through client satisfaction we have now a steady business in these fields.
